JetBlue passengers can choose from standard economy seats, extra-legroom options and premium cabins, including Mint lie-flat suites. Whether selecting a seat costs extra depends on the fare booked, the seat chosen and, in some cases, the traveler’s Mosaic status.

In the Main cabin, standard economy seats may be included with some fares. Main Preferred seats, positioned closer to the front, and Extra Legroom seats both cost extra. Main passengers receive complimentary snacks, drinks and Wi-Fi, as well as seatback entertainment with live television and movies.

EvenMore is JetBlue’s premium economy option, with up to 38 inches of legroom, priority boarding, dedicated overhead-bin space and priority security at select airports. Its other inclusions include drinks, snacks, Wi-Fi and seatback entertainment. Mint, available on select domestic and international routes, features lie-flat seats, elevated dining and other premium amenities. Some Mint aircraft have private suites, while front-row Mint Studios offer additional space and a guest seat.

JetBlue’s fare categories are Base, Standard and Flex. Standard and Flex fares include seat selection, while the rules for Base fares vary. Main Base passengers must pay to select a seat in advance. EvenMore Base includes free selection at check-in, and BlueFirst Base includes it only within 24 hours of departure. Mint Base charges for advance seat selection; regular Mint and Mint Flex include it. Selecting a Mint Studio costs extra, with the price varying by flight.

The airline’s new domestic first-class product, BlueFirst, is expected to begin flying on non-Mint aircraft and routes on Dec. 8, 2026. BlueFirst is also included in JetBlue’s fare categories, with seat-selection terms depending on the fare purchased.

NerdWallet’s analysis of major U.S. airlines found JetBlue had the highest average one-way seat-selection fee, at $73. The analysis underscores why passengers may want to check which seats are included before booking or choosing a seat.

Mosaic members receive complimentary access to Main Preferred seats. Their access to EvenMore seats depends on status: Mosaic 1 members can select them from 36 hours before departure for themselves and up to two companions, while Mosaic 2 and higher can select them at booking. Mosaic 3 and 4 members can include up to four companions. Main Base fares are excluded from complimentary seat-selection benefits, regardless of status.

All Mosaic members, along with JetBlue Premier Card holders booking with their card, may receive complimentary space-available upgrades to BlueFirst for themselves and one companion. Main Base and EvenMore Base fares are not eligible. Mosaic 3 and 4 members also receive Premium Upgrade Certificates; Mosaic 2 members will be able to choose one through Perks You Pick starting Feb. 1, 2027.

Passengers can select seats while booking or later through JetBlue’s website or mobile app. After choosing a flight and fare, they can view the seat map and any applicable prices. For example, a Main fare allows free selection of eligible Main seats, while upgraded seats may carry a charge. Main Base passengers pay for advance seat selection, and Mint passengers can choose an available Mint Suite without an additional seat-selection charge or pay extra for a Mint Studio.
